Default Where is the V6 "Love"

I know I can't be the only one around here. I know its not the biggest or fastest out there, but there must be others running the 3.7 V6 that are satisfied with their choice. Sure we chose it for financial reasons, for the most part, but that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun with it in the mean time. My time with my V6 is just starting and I would like to try and find a little inspiration.

I've done every bolt on worth it on the v6 and dyno'd it. I would really like to see someone do before and after dyno runs w/ custom cams and a tune. I want to see what kind of power can be made from it, I think some guy w/ a dakota did cams but I don't think he ever got them dyno'd and has disappeared from the forum I found the info on.

182 hp, though it probably would have been higher but I ran it in 4th thinking the speed limiter was off and it wasn't, so it drops off just past 5k rpm where it hits the limiter. Torque was good and flat from 1500rpm up w/ peak of 210 ft-lbs. The dyno's are in this thread http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=64326 w/ details.

That's not bad man. You're making about the same torque as the new 4.7L. Nice to see a hopped up v6.

Haha, no not really the new 4.7 is what 330 ft-lbs, and my truck puts 210 to the wheels. My hp is about what a stock older 4.7 puts to the ground though.

No you are right about at the same as the 4.7L.....that's 330 lbft at the crank, not the wheel. A 2008+ stock 4.7L is about 200 lbft at the wheel, give or take.

http://ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=109335

You lose less power through a manual gearbox than the 4.7L does through the auto, that's a benefit.

I'm excluding peaks, and just going off the main flat line "curve".

Wow, didn't think they were that low, I think the old 4.7's put out better torque but had less hp. Anyone on the forum run their trucks to compare to SC numbers?

The older regular 4.7L was 235 hp 295 lbft. The newer 4.7L is 310 hp 330 lbft. Not sure what the older HO 4.7L was rated at, but it is less than the new 4.7L for sure.

The new hemi's usually dyno ~300hp peak. They are rated at 390hp at the crank.

I've seen a few 2008+ 4.7L dyno's and they are pretty consistent. With the tuner it really helps out.

So did you ever do cams?

No, figured it wasn't gonna be worth the headache since I was gonna put them in myself. Doing a cam on the older hemi and 4.7 always gave good numbers, so I wondered what the 3.7 could do w/ one. I don't have any dyno's on hand but I want to say the older 4.7 put out better torque to the wheel than the new one's in stock form, just from seeing the graphs you linked to.
