Well the forecast looks good for the weekend here, so i think its time to start the project!
Couple of questions before i start, so for prep work, 1st layer - blue painters tape, 2nd layer - aluminum foil with vaseline smeared on top of that?
Does this sould right? thats what ive been gathering from most threads.
Will the first layer of glass come right off the foil or is the vaseline recommended? Or is this overkill and will one layer of painters tape be fine?
Thanks in advance!

Oh and will be picking up two new 10" kicker compVT's, to go along with my new SSL 2500.1 amp this week

Vaseline on the foil, or some places stock a form release agent which you put on before you glass. I've also seen people just let the foil stay on the project and then sand it off, but that was with straighter surfaces, with the angles and corners of our under seat area it might be difficult to get a good sane on it.

How many layers of glass do you plan on doing? I've done glass before and it took at least 3 layers to get enough strength so the subs don't crack the final product.

Just use spray cooking oil like PAM or rub car wax on the foil

Back from the dead!

The project is relatively simple. I did a fiberglass box in my 08 Ram quad, with dry time took about 2.5 days (i do have experience with building enclosures though). I never ended up taking pictures of the process but cooking foil (aluminum foil) is the cheapest method to save your carpet. Do not remove the carpet to try to get that extra airspace, you will not be able to get the base out. Lay down 3-4 layers of fiberglass mat to prevent breaking. If you think you have enough mat, get another package. One large container of resin is sufficient (large being a gallon). You can get all the stuff you need at lowes/homedepot/napa.

Best choice (if possible) is to get the resin to dry slowly (mix it just slightly colder than the normal 1-10 ratio). It makes the matt you laid down much stronger.

Jdot313 - I see you're down in sac, i'm just a couple hours north of you in Chico (for about another 2 months). I'd be happy to give you some more advice if you want to take on this job. Just PM me.
