You don't have to get theM changed, but I would. DePending on the tire size you're moving up to. It will make a 5mpg difference and HUGE power difference. As for brands, I would use Yukon. Thing is no one makes any gears or carriers for us yet. However I can get your carrier modified to fit the older style gear's bolt pattern. Just let me know if thats somethin you would be interested in.

To check your current setup, did you buy it new? If their was no mentioning on the sticker, more than likely you have 3.55s. But to be sure, crawl under you driver side axle and there will be a tag with your ratio

Sweet thank you! I intend on doing it as I've been reading im looking into a 4.10 I am at 3.55 right now just bought it a week ago. I am just trying to see if it a MUST do now cause im hearing its a tad pricey. And ill be running 35X12.50X20 tires

I would personally do it when you lift it. What size tires you going to run?

Its not pricey if all you're doing is a gear swap. Especially if you're only 2wd

Damn you edited haha. What 35s are you gonna run?

You'll have a new gear ratio of about the factory 3.21 and all the additional weight. Depending on the brand will depend on how bad you kill your power!
