Default 1700 mile round trip... To be continued

First off a few details on the truck.

2012 Ram standard cab SB 4x4 3.55 gear. Yes, it's got a HEMI...
Barely over 1100 miles
Most recent fill up mpg (electronically) 16.0 (hand calculated) 16.6. All city driving with several quick bursts from a dig.

I will be leaving Terre Haute, IN for Arlington, TX this evening (5/7/12). 860+ miles one way. My intentions are to run "eco" mode off on the way there and on for the trip back. I will have roughly 2000# load for the ride back. I will not be factoring any wind directions unless it is windy, obviously. Each fill up I intend to update this thread with details of fuel economy, temps and any other details that can effect mpg.

After 428.3 miles I stopped to fill up. Added 22.4 gallons. Electronic display shows 19.0 and hand calculation is 19.1. That is with the 'ECO' off speeds of 68-75 the whole trip. Since I am pretty much at my half way point I will try the 'ECO' for the remainder of the trip.

Ah, yes... After the first fill up I decided to run 'eco' on. Upon arrival, dash indicated 19.8 mpg and hand calculated @ 20.0 mpg. All 70 mph or better until I got into Dallas and finally my destination in Arlington. I am very impressed with the mileage from something that has the aerodynamics of a brick.

I've come to the conclusion, for my driving habits in my truck, frequent stop and go 'eco' off is best for fuel economy. And on for any highway/interstate driving.
