thinking about grabbing the 14"...I really want to go true duals, but it's easier to drop 400$ doing this than it is dropping 1000 on a new system...

Here we go, got my Mufflex dods18 today, put the truck up on the ramps and pulled the stock one off, installed the Mufflex in like 30min lmao, this install was almost as easy as my cup holder mod that goes in the Driver door. Was like plug and play. Well I recorded what the 2012 Ram 1500 4.7L single Exhaust with the the mufflex on it and tell you, the recording does not come close to the actual sound this dods18 has, give you an idea of the thunder this thing produces, check out the video how it vibrated due to the low sound vibe this thing gives off. The dods14 must vibrated the carp out everything if this 18 sounds like this.

I voted for the 18 because thats what I got. It's plenty loud when you stomp it and sounds just right when cruising. The drone is not bad at highway speed but around town when the MDS kicks in it's kinda annoying. I did the loud exhaust thing before with other cars and trucks I've owned and it's just not that cool to me anymore. I wouldn't get either of the Mufflex's simply because it's way over priced just for being a diy kit. I bought the 18" Magnaflow for $110 and had a local shop weld it in for $60. Took less than 30 minutes and I saved money and didn't get dirty.

To each his own.

I had the mufflex 14 and it sounded sweet, nice deep rumble, but when I put cold air on the sound changed alot and I didnt like it as much. So I swapped it for the flowmaster super 40 and its much louder now and has better response

My 09 ram had an unknown aftermarket muffler and I really loved the sound. Not to loud while driving but you knew when it was moving. So I picked up my 2012 a month ago and the quiet is horrible. I went to the dealer and measured my old trucks muffler which was 12" long. As there is no brand on it I'm thinking the 14 will be for me. I have a wife and two young kids and they liked the sound from the 09 with the unknown 12" brand. As said many times before it is really personal preference.

I'm thinking an 18'' will sound good especially when I put a cold air intake on the truck

Kewlguy got it right. I put on the 14 and it sounds good, slightly obnoxious at times. The wife complains when we're on the highway that it hurts her head. I wish I would have got the 18 so I don't have to hear her drone.
