Default Sticking rear doors

Our 2001 Dodge Ram 4X4 extended cab has the suicide type rear doors. Both sides are sticking and I am unable to open them. I have removed the inside panels and the rods seem to be connected and pulling on them does not open doors. Any suggestions ... anybody??

While pulling on the rod push and/or pull your door. The latching mechanism may not be properly lined up therefore placing unneeded pressure at the latching point.

Will get back to you . I will go out shortly and look at my '01 . I do believe that there is an upper and a lower door latch .

Did you try the door release inside the door jam and the one in the inside of the truck . I didn't see anything that would keep it from opening up . I thought that maybe the rear doors might of had the child door locks on them . But didn't see anything . Find it hard to believe that both rear doors won't open . Try pushing and pulling on them while holding the handle . Maybe their just frozen from not being used (?) Maybe have someone climb into the back seat and throw a little bit of shoulder into it . Let me know how you make out . Talk to ya soon . Tom

Door strikers may be out of adjustment. A good trick is to loosen them just a hair, not even enough to move them by hand, and then close the door on them a couple of times and tighten them up in their new location. This is a trick I use on sliding doors, don't know if it applies to your situation but figured I could try to help out. Good Luck. And don't forget to lube the heck out of the latches (or maybe replace them. )
