I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 as well. My truck does this from time to time. Whether I am putting it in reverse or drive from the park position. When it does do it, it makes a type of griding noise, sometimes jerking into the gear I have chosen and sometimes not. I haven't had any problems with my tranny as far as shifting goes while driving it. It shifts very smoothly but from time to time while driving it, it will kind of I guess what you could say, make a low roaring noise like its not happy with the gear it is in, and if I give it a little more gas it will kick into a higher gear and stop the sound. I have checked the transfer case and everything appears fine. To answer your question, I honestly don't know if it is a big problem or not a problem at all. My truck does it and it drives fine, I have had it checked and checked it out myself as well, and no problems have occured. Hope this helps.

It sounds exactly like what your describing Justin. I know its a truck and I should expect some things to be a little rough but that sound is horrible. Im going to have them look at it just to be on the safe side.

Sounds good, it's always best to play it safe as opposed to letting it go. It's probably nothing much but everyone likes to know what's going on with their truck. Hope everything works out for you and that they don't find anything wrong. If you need any more help or have any more questions, feel free to ask!
