I have a 2001 3.9l with a rough idle. I have cleaned the IAC but it has not seemed to help my problem. Is there a way to test it to see if it is working properly? Or should i just start my truck with it unplugged and see if there are any changes?

Depending on how much work you do on it...you can pick up a noid set with the IAC testers in it on ebay for about $40. It'll test the circuit but not the IAC. Nice to have anyway.

The IAC is only around $40 also so it's a toss up on which to buy. In all actuality, since it's over 10 yrs old I'd go ahead and replace it since you've already spent more time on it than it deserves and call it "Preventive Maintenance".
