Default Oil Change on EVIC (Cummins 6.7)

I have a new 2012 Dodge 3500 RAM with the Cummins. When the truck was delivered to me it had 700 miles on it, so first thing... oil change. Had the local Valvoline Oild change shop do the work, 12 qts, new filter and a oil life reset.

Now the trouble, at 2,200 miles the EVIC told me I needed an oil change. So I stopped by the VOIC (Valvoline), and they said to just reset the oil life again as it had only been 1,500 miles since it was changed. So we reset the oil life again. Then at 3,500 miles I got the "Change Oil" again on the EVIC.

THis time I called the local dealer here in Albuquerque, and I was told "Just change the oil, if the EVIC tells you too". If this vehicle is supposed to go 7,500 miles (Based on owners guide) and I have already reset the EVIC 3 times in less that 4K. Is this normal for the EVIC to tell you it needs an oil change so soon?

I was going to change it at 3,700 anyways (As I change every 3K, and Fuel Filter every 3rd oil change).

I ran my Duramax for 170K and never once did I ever get told to change my oil, as I changed it every 3K (Or close to there).

I just want to see if it could possibly be a manufacture defgective oil life sensor, or something related to that?

I agree it may be pre-set for specific milage (Say 3, or 5K) but if I changed it when the EVIC "told me too", I woild have changed it 3 times in less that 3,500 miles. I could see the "Warning" at 3K, but at 2,200 after a reset not 1,500 before that. Also the Owners manual says to go 7,500 between changes, so shouldn't the EVIC support that recomendation?

Default EVIC Change Oil yet again!!!

Ok, I took my dealers advice and had the oil changed at 3,883, and now today at 1,500 on the dot 5,383 it is telling me I need an oil change again. So why is it telling me to chan ge it yet again at only 1,500 miles?

I'm going to call the second dealer here in NM and run it by them. Hopefully I don't get "just change the oil".

I am now at just 5,400 miles still well below the "dealer" recomended of 7,500 miles. And I have now had 4 change oil warnings.

Default Issue Resolved!

I took my truck into the dealer finally and the tech discovered my truck was set for "Bio-Diesel". Once he changed it... the Oil change warning went away and now the Cummins is WAY more "peppy" off the line. before when you took off from a stop it lugged like you were pulling a load all the time, once the dealer changed that setting, it has more power on a take-off.
