Default Oil change w/ mobil 5000

Hello, i just had my oil changed today. I asked for synt 5w20. While the mechanic was working i saw him pouring quarts of mobil w/ 5000 number on it. I was just looking online and saw that its not synthetic oil. Am i correct?? Should i go and tell them to change it again or is this oil good enough to leave untill next change. Previosly u had mobil 1 synt.

Thank you

What did they charge you for . If they didn't put in what you asked for and charged you for it , go back . But if not Mobil is good oil . Next time take your own oil , that way you'll get what you want .

First, did you ask for bottle oil, or did they get the oil from their drums in the back part of the shop??? I know at my shop, I use the 5qt Valvoline Synthetic jug to get my oil out of the back shop, whether it be conventional or synthetic... so maybe your mechanic reuses his oil jugs like I do.... Second, no the Mobil 1 5000 is not either a synthetic or synthetic blend, it is only conventional oil. If your that concerned, I would def go back and ask them where they got your oil from, if you did not ask for bottle oil, and why your mechanic poured in the Mobil 1 5000 mile oil....

well, went to them today and told what my concern was and they had no problem changing it to mobil 1. I really dont understand why would they do it in first place but anyway.. my next question for you guys. are there any side effects to having oil changed from synthetic to normal then back to synthetic??

thanks

There's a bit of a debate about switching back and forth. Some people say no, others say they do it all the time and no problems. My beef is just the viscosity changes if you ge back and forth and uneven drag on all parts. I say if you're going synthetic, then stay there, but it won't kill your engine if you go back.
