Default looking at different axles

hello peoples, back again with some more questions.
im not sure, but ive noticed when trying to kick up mud or dirt only the passenger side tire gets seriously aggresive with the spin out while the drivers side kicks a little, then stops. im guessing this means its an open differential which is something i want to upgrade. more than likely a dana 60. since this is my main transportation truck that i like to take off road, what would you recommend? limited slip? non slip? whats the best gear ratio to stick with? what will send both tires into a mud kicking frenzy while not affecting road travel too greatly? i know there arent allot of people up here in Alaska, but to anyone who has off roaded up here, would you recommend i need lockers, or is that something for a strictly offroad truck?

just wanted to pick your brains on these and see what you guys had to say and recommend since im pretty much a rookie when it comes to offroad. thank you guys for this awesome forum.

U can try a LSD (limited slip locker) in the rear and front too. I put a LSD in both on my 2500 and am happy with them. No buttons to push, no electronics or air to worry about, they just work when needed and don't when U don't need it. Pretty cost effective too, about $500 per axle for the part. With your 2500 and it being a diesel, I'm sure your rear axle is already as big or bigger than a Dana 60. I'll see if I can post a pic of mine.

they look awesome.

im not sure exactly whats on the truck. my stepdad was the second owner and he really only used it for hauling and didnt really do any modifications to it. i know they replaced the front end, but thats about it as far as i know.
