Default 2001 Ram 2500 stalling while warming up at idle

Been trying to figure out this issue and it's driving us nuts. Have a 2001 Ram 2500, with the 5.9, and auto tranny.

When cold...the truck starts up fine, idles great.

When it's just starting to get warmed up, the idle goes slower and slower, to the point where it will stall. If you start driving at this point, it will run, but will occasionally spit back up through the valve body.

BUT....when it gets fully warmed up, it starts running great again, no issues at all!

There is no check engine light, no codes from our reader. Fuel pressure is fine. Even checked the TPS and it seems to read steady and fine as well.

Any help on trying to figure this out would really be appreciated!

Check and clean idle air control at back of throttle body. Next check air temp sensor its in intake behind alt. Its usualy gray with two prong plug.

Thumbs up Solved

I did alot of internet searching and finaly found a post by a Dodge mechanic that solved the issue. The upstream O2 sensor was bad. He explained that the engine will run fine for upto 2 minutes and then take a dump and maybe even stall, but then once warm will run fine. The problem is not the IAC as it is only doing what it is told, but the O2 sensor that is telling it to do the wrong thing.

I replaced my upstream O2 sensor ($60 part) and problem was intantly fixed

I hope this helps the next guy.

Corey
