Well from what I can tell of them it just works dash. Not to say you could loose pressure the only way to tell it isT in a micanical gadge and test it that way. But on up side pumps arnt to expencive and fairly easy.

The oil pump itself is a simple mechanical device that essentially is working or it's not... I can't think if a failure mode for the oil pump that would be intermittent.

A worn oil pump will exhibit signs like slow to raise oil pressure on start-up, and low operating pressure... to have no pressure, the pump would have totally failed, or you have a big puddle on the ground due to a major external leak and an empty oil pan.

Pressure senders on the other hand do deteriorate over time due to heat exposure.
It is not unusual for them to weep oil around the plastic insert when old.

Ive gone through 4 of these POS sending units. Including 3 from mopar. Checked the load on the guage and its good. Checked pressure with a manual guage and its solid. But everytime rpm drops below 1500 it drops to zero and the check guages light comes on and it dings at me. I'm tired of this. So does anyone know what size resistor to put in the pig tail for the sending unit so I can install a manual guage in the cab?

It's located on the very back of the block to the right of the distributor. It can be reached from the bottom over the top of the transmission

I would put a t in where the sensor goes in the block and add a mechanical gage to it for a steady accurate reading.

I would like to do that but the check guages light and buzzer would still come on. So I would like to do away with that with putting a resistor in the line. Remove the sending unit and put in a manual guage in the cab. Problem is i dont know what size resistor to put in. So i was hoping someone had done this before and could tell me what size resistor to install.

The motor is all new including the oil pump and i checked it with a snap on manual guage. its good. Just neeed to know what size resistor to put on the sendor unit pig tail. so i can elminate the sending unit and put a manual guage in the cab.
