Well I had the trany rebuilt and they did alot. My tourque converter was completly messed up and destroyed the pump nearby. There where a couple other problems with reverse and shifting from 2nd to 3rd and the overdrive. But it was all fixed with a master overhaul for about $2,800 ouch!!! But the Ram runs great now and have a warranty so I am on the road again!!!

yea mine is at the shop for a rebuild too. same exact thing as ncfirefighter. torque converter was burnt up and needed a whole lot of work. luckily i knew a guy who is cutting me a break and doing it all for $1,500. and i have 1 year 12k mile warranty. he is also replacing all of the sensors and the solenoid and doing a coolant system flush.

From what i understand if you are not going to overhaul the transmission you should not change the fluid. As for the fluid being red that is normal. It is probably due for one though. Good luck

well it's not back on the road yet. lol i should get it back mon or tues. and from what he told me...if the fluid is not being burnt and your tranny is not having any problems....the fluid and filter should be changed at least once a year. but when you change it make sure that you take the magnet out of the pan and wipe off all..if any...metal shavings. that is the point if it but if the shavings collect for too long the magnet becomes weak and the shavings, instead of being seperated from the fluid, are cycled through the tranny..which is bad lol
