Just an update, i dropped mine today and everything seemed nice and tight. I staked the nut the best i could(not much area to work with) and put blue loctite around the exposed thread of the pinion nut. hopefully i am good. Btw truck has 20,000 miles.

Last night I found out one of my motorcycle buddies works for a Dodge dealer in CT. He aked me for my VIN he was gonna take a look for me. Seems there are over 500 ring & pinions on back order. Thats alot of ring & pinions!!!!! Scheduled for relase July 25th and prob take a week to ship to the dealers so that puts it right around Aug 1st like the service tech told me.
I have called Chrysler NA about getting my outta pocket expenses paid 3 calls and no return call. Not good Chrysler not good.

I just got mine back on Wednesday took 10 days to get parts and repair. I bought the extended warranty so I was covered for a rental for the full 10 days. I pulled over before the drive shaft had a chance to drop so I saved myself. I heard the whine while doing 120+km\h it could have been much much worse from what I have read on this thread.

Default Rear diff and dropped driveshaft...

Im in Mass... 2010 Ram with 35K+...

On 07/19/2010 I was on interstate going 80 MPH, in less than 10 miles I heard the winning noise when I let off the gas get louder and louder, then BAM see ya drive shaft. Lucky for me I was just about to get off the ramp and was slowed to 40 MPH. I pulled the D/S and tried to drive out in 4 wheel, but the R/D was locked up. I let it roll back 40 ft to get in a safer position on highway. Didnt bother with roadside assist, new I'd be waiting with a buch of m*******s wizzing by me, no thanks got my own tow and got the F out of there. It could have been worse, so I guess I'm lucky!?

Been at the dealer since, they tell me 7 days, but after reading about the back order, I should expect the worst. I need this truck to make a living and I was happy with the truck till now! The dealership claims this is the first they seen of this, I think their lying and I intend to find out. If so, I feel someone is playing with our lives!!! PASS THE WORD people need to know. Thanks everyone fore the info!

Sorry for you problems...thanks for posting your axle issues. I hope Dodge will step up and issue a recall soon.
I had a axle problem with my 2010 one year old with 7k miles on the od. (over heated towing 7000lbs @ 50 mph). Dodge would not cover my claim.

SOOO glad i came across this! Last thursday i was driving about 40 km\hr when i hear a whine and then BOOOM there goes the driveshaft! I call chrysler emergency and they get a tow truck dispatched out to me in about ten minutes. My diff did pile up as well, once i got to the dealership the service tech came out and looked at it quickly, walked in and put brand new diff housing and parts as well as a new driveshaft on order. parts showed up friday, got my truck back saturday afternoon. not back, quick turn over. but now im in a dispute with them saying its because of lack of maintenance. they still have not told me exactly what happened, nor did i sign ANY papers but yet they released my truck back to me. This is a $6144.92 bill that i am not paying for.
