Default RC 2.5 Leveling Kit + -6 offset Wheels = How Fat of a tire? :)

Hey Guys,

I have a 2010 Ram crew cab and looking to beef up my tires a little bit. Im currently running 285/70/17 Goodyear Duratrac and I feel like the look a little small in the wheel wells so time to upgrade. (plus they are wearing out pretty bad...)

I just ordered the Rough Country 2.5" Leveling kit and I currently have Dale Earnhardt Jr. Cannon 117x8.5 Wheels, 17", which have a -6 offset.

I want to get the biggest tire I can fit in there. Im debating between Mickey Thompson MTZ or Toyo MT (if I find a good deal...) From what I`ve read on several threads is I should be able to fit 315/70/17 considering I have -6 offset but I want to make sure they will fit before I pull the trigger. 35"x12.5 would be even better but I have a feeling those won't fit. Maybe you guys can correct me.

Thanks!

My kit just arrived today. Ill install it this weekend

Nobody can tell me if my rims and this kit will accomodate 315/70R17 tires?? someone must have a similar setup. I`ll be ordering tires on Monday so i`d love to hear some input before then.

Thanks

Usually quite a bit of input on here Friday evenings and alot on Saturday too I find.
I personally have not hit the tire milestone yet myself. I plan to run mine this winter and into next spring before making any tire changes. I will have roughly 20 to 30 k on the truck by then probably. This depends if i make a Florida run this winter too, i am good for 20k plus a year on my trucks.

I have read that it will fit with the 315/70/17... thats pretty close to a 35inch anyways man. Of course every truck is different. Can I ask why you didnt get the 3.75 kit? Then you could have put 35s under there without question...

Thanks for the info. I was hoping not to have to install the leveling kit plus a body kit. And its a little too much cash for me at the moment(especially shipped to Canada... I now regret buying from Rough Country cause estimated shipping was 22$ and when ups got here they hit me with an extra 60$..$200 for a leveling kit is stupid...there are much better options out there...just a heads up to other Canadian forum members)

That's great! Thanks.

Turns out that on the Mickey Thompson site the 315/70R17 and 35x12.5R17 are the same tire (same part number for both) I was wondering why some sites sell one size only and others sell the second..

315 Toyo's is what I ordered for my lift originally as I wanted it to be tucked in slightly. They were 35's on 20" rims with a 0 offset.
I swapped them for 37x12.5x20 Trail Grapplers which are about the same width.
With these tires, I have 1" of clearance to the A arm.
That said....6mm equals 0.25"
So you should be able to fit those tires no problem. Especially on a leveled ram
