Ok guys, Warlock you will enjoy this, I pulled the truck into my mechanic's bay at work today. Two mechanics with 50yrs experience between them, me, and my buddy who is also a certified mechanic tackled it this afternoon.
The two old guys are offering advice, we are beating and prying and all that with the impact on the bolt. Nothing.

Exit old guys...

So I had to go do some actual work just as my buddy says, "well all I know to do is cut the shock, beat the bushing out, then try to cut the sleeve that is locked on the bolt." I come back and the air hammer is at full tilt.

After some prying and beating, sweat, thankfully no blood and lots of grins from the old guys, I have a new set of shocks on old Popcorn. Which is good because I have to go back to Lonoke, AR next week.

PS, on the rear shocks, I bolted the bottom in then CUTTHE DAMN STRAP!!!!! That is an entirely different story though wrought with much profanity...

^THAT'S WHAT I SAID !^

Try jacking it up, or letting it down some to apply varying degrees of pressure.

Then get like six friends together and a telephone pole...have 'em take about 25 steps back...

Like I said. it's a combination lock. You're going to have to get just the right amount of pressure while taking it out. If the threads are damaged they may be skipping in reverse and still able to tighten. Depending on how much room you have...I might even try tightening it to almost flush, grind the head off, and send it through all the way.

Anyway I'm glad to hear your success. Yaaay.

I couldn't get a good hold on a pry bar or anything else to try and put pressure on the bolt without it slipping off...I did grease the hell out of it going back in though...

Sometimes the bolts can rust to the metal sleeve inside the bushing of the shock itself. I had this happen on a car before and I ended up having to sawzall the bolt and do a lot of hammering. When you're unscrewing the bolt you can see some metal coming out between the the shock and the mount, it sounds weird but you'll recognize it if you see it.
