Hey Cajun, I was stationd in TDC for a year at 17 turned 18 there and I gotta say it was one heckuva a party,
Im glad yall understand what I am saying lol because I thought maybe I was going overboard a little, but to this day I have and will always have a sense of duty to this country, I have family that fought in every war since WWI, My ancestors on my moms side fought on the German side in the first some fled Austria to get away from the Germans and some stayed and fought, on my dads side they were all Confederates and noone really knows where they came from the family story is that they just started growing outta the rocks in the mountains of NC Tennessee and Va. The movie Cold Mountain is about W.P.Inman and he was my ggg uncle, I think its 3 g`s lol I get lost sometimes with the g`s. I have a nephew who just came home from the desert who is in S.O.A.R. and the list goes on.
I didnt have any family that I am aware of on the Union side but I am sure somewhere there are some
My dad and uncles served and no telling how many cousins are or have been in,and the sense of honor an duty is more strong than you can imagine in my family, My brother did the Navy thing, and one went to college another is out in Montana somewhere doing his thing lol. but every generation has had several members involved.
I have an American flag a Confederate flag and a POW MIA flag in my yard and they`ll be there till I die and I am sure my kids will keep them flying proudly..
I hear ya Chithead, dont get a ticket, lol if ya do send me a PM and I might can send ya a little cash to help offset your cost...
I have been thinking about sending a letter to the family of this fallen hero but I really dont know what would be good enough to say at the loss of their loved one.
Maybe we could print out some bumper stickers that says something like boa doesnt appreciate Veterans or something.
or maybe boa kicks fallen heroes!!!!
ok starting to rant and my sick baby is demanding some attention
and thanks ya`ll for the good convo. I appreciate it,
Ron

Question is, if these things are of no significance, then why is it significant, that before practically every major sporting event, etc., more prayers are sent out for our troops than anything else? Are people just desensitized to the whole patriotism thing because the war has gone on seemingly forever, which breeds hate and discontent, no matter who is in office, or does hypocrisy reign?
and Cajun I think its kinda people just go thru the motions and they really dont do they praying, I hope it isnt true but I just kinda go by what I see.
I gaurantee ya if we were attacked by a military force on our land they would surely do some rethinking about our sons daughter wives and hubbies that serve or have served.

Wow, pwrwgnman, that's awesome, such a small world, you were in TDC, too! I know my parents always used to talk about how much they enjoyed going to Seoul on my dad's time off, but I will have to tell my dad about that, he will get a kick out of it, but yeah, I can appreciate what you are saying, and you have an impressive list of family that spans many generations, all of whom fought for the USA! Kudos to you and all of them. Unfortunately, I have not done the family tree research as far back as I would like to, but will get around to that someday. All of my grandparents and such are all gone, so my mom and dad are really the only ones left with any recollection beyond what I mentioned earlier, so don't really know if I have relatives who fought in the Civil War, but I imagine I do since we have a lot of family in Tennessee, so I will have to ask my dad about that one, as I am curious myself. He always gets to go to our family reunions, I always have to work , but I am planning to change that this next year, if at all possible. Either way, I like the bumper sticker idea, maybe we can get that one to take off, lol!

As you said, though, about if we were to be attacked by a military force on our own ground, I imagine that would change some attitudes, maybe even some hearts and minds. Maybe that is the problem, we are so far removed from all that is happening around the world, and are only connected to it via the internet/t.v., that unless you are directly involved (over there one's self) or indirectly involved, i.e. family, you really can't get a true sense of what is happening and the true scope of it. All I know is the numbers of dead in Afghanistan are rising exponentially by the month, and yet what objective have we accomplished? I really have a bad feeling that the current administration, unless we develop a clear objective and policy on this one, is really going to negate any advances that have been made, but then again, I said a few years ago that I thought Iran was the next sleeping giant.....It would be pretty cool if we could get some of our military members to chime in on this and share their thoughts!

Good idea, chithead, just don't get yourself in trouble! Hard to post from the bighouse, lol!

As if I needed another reason not to bank with BOA. It really pisses me off that they get to call themselves Bank of America. They get not one dime from me, and never will.
