Default "Light Electric" or "Heavy Electric" ?

So, in the setup for my factory integrated trailer brake, I can choose "light electric" or "heavy electric". I can't find any documentation that tells me the difference.

I have a dual axle equipment trailer, brakes on both axles. The trailer weighs about 1200 lbs, and is rated for 7000 lb gross. Payload is usually between 2500 and 4000lbs

Personally, if it is less than 50% of the max towing cap, I'd use light. More than 50%, I'd use heavy.

You can also try both, and see how the trailer brakes work.

I will probably use heavy when I tow my camper, since it weighs ~ 6000 lbs.

I'm betting if you switch to "heavy" it won't recognize the electric on your trailer. It didn't mine anyways when I had the same question. "It's light".

Heavy = 3 braked axles or more
Light = 2 axles and less.
