Default frame swap

Has anyone done a frame swap from a 1st gen to a newer one. To gain access to newer suspension parts. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering about something along these lines the other day. I've been thinking about pulling the body off of my 85 and dropping it onto the frame of like a 96 or so, so I would basically have a 96 ram with an 85 body...

My only question is do you really want to. Your current vehicle is 25+ years old and Does not have to meet current inspection that newer vehicles do. If you changed to a later vehicle running gear in some states you will have to register it as which is ever later the engine or the body. Meaning that if you have current vehicle running gear you would probably have to meet inspection requirements of the later vehicle. It could be expensive and a lot of work to meet these requirements. Using parts off of a newer vehicle could work.

I do have another thought. If the body is old enough to be an antique and you register it as an antique vehicle You probably won't have to inspection requirements.
