Default 2012 CCSB 2500 Gooseneck Questions

Hey all~

I have a 2012 crew cab short box 6.7 2500 and just had a B&W ball installed in the bed last week and am really concerned about how far forward it is in the box. I know that having a short box pickup is the reason the ball sits so close to the cab but everywhere you look you see short box rams pulling horse trailers, campers and gooseneck trailers so there must be something I am missing here......

Questions,

1) What have you guys done to make your gooseneck ball more usable when pulling trailers?

2) Do you have issues with the trailer front being to close to the cab? If so how did you solve the issue?

I did try to do a search but did not come up with much so I hope this hasn't already been beat to death... I cannot believe I am the only one with this concern???

Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Taks Care,

JT

I have a 2012 2500 ccsb as well and i use a gooseneck and a fifth wheel, but i went with the rail system and the gooseneck plate is actually offset so if im pulling an enclosed gooseneck i turn it aroud so it sits farther back in the bed. but as far as a b&w ball i had it in my other shortbed and had no problems other than if i was pulling an enclosed gooseneck i just couldnt turn quite as sharp when backing. Thats the reason i went with the rail system in this one.Hope this helps ya some

B&W offers all of these accessories to help you adapt for trailers that are close to the cab. I do not have any affiliation with them, just have used all of these products and found all of them to be very useful and functional.

Most trailer shops can provide you with a fifth wheel extender that replaces the original pin box and extends it out for use with a shortbed truck.

Here is an example of one, but there are a ton of them on the market.

Almost all of these options are relatively cheap compared to what you already have invested. Additionally they can be taken off and retained for your next trailer if you swap it out.

Hope this helps!

Jon
