Default Can't win for losing...

Well, I put Peedoodlum's Camry on the ramps...just a simple oil change before I go to AR next week. Plan was to do the car then the truck then clean both tomorrow.
Rounded the oil plug off...
So, I bought some of those bolt gripper sockets and came home, decided to try again tomorrow....
Man I feel dumb!!!

I have a set of the Craftsman reverse thread extractors for just such a glorious occasion.

Wanna know another trick that works?

What happens to a bolt when you hit the head with a hammer? It mashes over. Tap the socket back on and it fits better.

You my friend have spent far too much time working on older vehicles with a budget of $0.00. I am glad to report that I no longer spend that much quality time with 'experienced' vehicles. Heck, I haven't used Vise-Grips in almost 2 weeks! *1

*1
Does not apply to use of said Vise-Grips in the act of welding pieces of new metal that have nothing to do with automobiles.

My temper may have allowed unintentional damage to the oil pan had I done this...Chances are I would miss the bolt head at least enough times to knock a whole somewhere...LOL

Soon as the coffee gets flowing through me I'm headed back out.

If the dodge gives me any trouble, I may have a "come apart"

I've learned this "technique" after a "friend" calls and says...:what do I do? Mostly on lug-nuts...Lug-nut.

Yeah, I wouldn't go as far as to try it on an oil pan without a cup of coffee and a Red Bull chaser.

Maybe you can get the old guys to watch for some more moral support? Shock therapy??

Hell, I don't need to give the old guys any more reason to poke fun at than I already have. I think I am going to get the quick valve thing for both. I remember Fram made them I had them on every vechicle back then and things were MUCH easier.

At least I didn't do what I did when I was younger...dropped the plug and the oil pan was so shallow the oil hit me square in the face. Any of you guys ever had the pleasure of getting unintentionally swallowed oil back up?

Is it just me, or is there some contradiction in that post?

Can't say I ever had the pleasure. Can't say I've ever experienced the situation leading up to the 'pleasure'.

Opps Sorry!
