Default New guy here with rollover valve question.

Hey all. New to this forum.........I have a 96 Club Cab, had about 3 years. I filled the gas tank to full capacity the other day, due to a pending hurricane. I drove home and notice gas leaking on the ground. I was like....WTF.....After alot of internet re-search, I come across this " rollover valve " issue. Tank is about half full, and when almost empty, I will remove tank and make repair as necessary. If, and if is the primary issue, it is the rollover valve(s) leaking, is it possible to seal off the rollover valve completely or at least loop it to itself ?.............I'm not sure what the problem is yet, but I still smell fuel odor and the truck has run rough lately and seems to have moderate hesitation when driving normal and WOT. Any advice is greatly appreciated. .................Also, the A/C in these trucks is barely acceptable. I did the heater core bypass, and have 2 electric fans on the condensor, helped alot.

Last time my 95 leaked fuel, there was a 1/4" rubber hose that had popped off the top of the tank, after being full after a minute or so. felt around on the top of the tank, found it disconnected, pushed it back on, and it has never leaked again. Easier to do on this truck than the other, as the 95 has a body lift on it, I don't know if this is possible without the body lift, or if the box would need to come off / slid back.
