Default Worthwhile to change the old compressor?

My freon leaked out a few years ago. Does anyone think it's worthwhile to change out the old compressor to a newer one when I go to have it updated? Do the newer compressors have any advatage over the old ones, like steals less horsepower or colder? Before the leak, it would blow in the high 40 degree area.

If i were you, i would call these people & find out where they suggest that you go to get your a/c system checked out, they are out of Phoenix
http://www.ackits.com/
usually they don't charge for estimates

If you have a shop near you that works on Hot Rods & classic vehicles
If it has a appointment waiting time/date, it is likely the best shop in town
