Just received my Hellwig front S-bar today,,,

Oh, My, GAWD!!!! Talk about CHUNKY

Looks like it should be installed on a Freightliner, and not on a RAM!!!!

(And yes, I have worked on Freightliners!!!!!)

My son and I installed the new Hellwig #7708 front sway bar, it's a big piece of steel and dwarfs the stock 1 1/4" bar
and is really 1 1/2" even though the catalog says 1 7/16". I bought it from Amazon.com for $193 shipped, it came
with 2-Black poly bushings, 2-D brackets and a tube of Green bushing grease...a really good kit.

Prior to this I added the OEM 16MM rear bar so this really completes the handling package. Hellwig makes
a 7/8" rear bar #7709 but since my truck is a reg cab short bed I worry that too big a rear bar would induce oversteer.

Thanks, I just got off the phone with the dealership and they told me I was also going to need two of these part numbers below (they didn't mention 6804178AC you have above):

2x 6104238AA ?
2x 6508965AA ?

Any ideas? I am going to try to look up what these two part numbers above are...

Google those numbers and you get 'bolt' and 'nut'

Parts 2, 3 and 5 came with my link (4)

Helwig supplied 1, 8, and 7. I bought (4) of 6

As indicated, (2) of one part number (link w/hardware) and (4) of the other (bolt) are all ya need from Dodge.

Buying parts at the local dealer!?!?!?!

Better check online if you have time and want to save a buck or 2

Again, Google the part number. 1st 'hit' came back with this:

Home > Mopar Parts > STABILIZER BAR LINK > Mopar Part 68041718AC STABILIZER BAR LINK
Mopar Part 68041718AC STABILIZER BAR LINK
Mopar Part 68041718AC STABILIZER BAR LINK
Item# 68041718AC
Dealer price: $42.10
Our price: $29.80

They sell a front sway bar as well which is tempting given how impressed I am with the rear. I'm guessing though that the benefit won't be as much as the rear over stock but I can't seem to find much info on it searching around.

Anyone running an upgraded front sway bar and was it worth it?

Thanks!!
I have used Hellwig products on 2 Rams since 2004 and love them. I really was impressed whti the Hellwig pring helpers I put on to help pull my 33ft TT on my 04 ram 1500 with 4.7.....thats right 4.7, and I gotta tell ya aside from gas mileage that truck was the best I ever owned. I am gonna cry ....J/K. At any rate, the Hellwig products rock, I cant say enough good things about them.

I have installed the factory rear swaybar on mine and it was 16MM. I would not goes this route again use HELLWIG instead it's larger and has 3 adjustments for length.

If you go the HELLWIG route you will only need these factory parts: two of part # 68041718AC rear Sway bar Link Kits that are $28.18 each they are item 4 on the picture.

Just curious, what is the other hole for on the sway bar?

Would this work with a leveling kit like Rough countrys that lifts the rear a bit?
