Long time no posts...
I'm in the process of leveling out my trucks ride by installing 2" lowering shackles. Apparently it is super easy... for 3rd gen rams. On mine, per side, there is 2 bolts going through the shackles, then connected by 2 nuts. The threads are facing the OUTSIDE of my truck. The bolts are about ~4 inches long and I only have an inch or so of room to REMOVE the bolts from the stock shackle. How in the hell is this possible?
It is stressed in the instructions, (mind you, the instructions are for 10 different shackles for fords, dodges, and chevrolets [thanks belltech for the specificity]), that the threads absolutely have to be facing the outside of the truck, so it's not like my bolts are facing the wrong way.
I'm jacking the truck up from the hitch, then supporting the FRAME with jack stands. Then using my jack again and raising it from the DIFFERENTIAL while still on the jack stands on the frame to ease the tension on the leaf springs, but it does not give me any more clearance what-so-ever.
Attatched is pictures of what the problem is. Note... it is the top bolt of the shackle giving me problems.
