Default manual tranny noise in an 01 Ram 1500

I've had is tranny whine for a couple months now and is getting loud. I've checked the oil in the trans and it full but needs a changing. I also checked the t-case that is full and looks like it was serviced before I bought the truck 5 months ago. The trans looks like it has never been touched and the truck has 114k on it. I'm trying to find out if anyone else has had this problem and would servicing the trans help.

Thanks.

Check the fluid in both rears. The rear-rear can travel and make it sound like it's in the trans. I've got 210K on mine and every once in awhile I'll get a short whine for less than a second that sounds like a power steering pump.

Check your hub bearings. I had one (R/S) front that was going bad and occasionally felt like I was driving on the rumble strips and vibrated BAD in the stick. I was beating my head against the wall, and then the brake pedal felt low, and then it didn't, and then it did, and then it didn't (repeat a few more times). Jacked it up, found the bad bearing and replaced it. Vibration/rumble went away.

Found out today it was not the tranny. The rear diff is done. There was a lot of metal in the diff and 1/4 to 3/8" of play between the ring and pinion gear. Now it comes down to rebuild and regear (cause it has 3.55 gears) or find a used diff and just replace the whole diff.
