Default Strange scratch inside hood

Hi guys,

I have a deep (down to bare metal) scratch about the size of a dime (uniformly removed) on the *inside* of the hood at the front nearside. On first inspection, it looks like they didn't fit the plastic stickers which interface with the support struts properly and they've been rubbing away... but when I observe the closing of the hood it all aligns properly. I don't get what could have caused it... it's as if a rock has been thrown up under the hood and become trapped in-between the plastic front cover and the hood and slowly ground away at the paintwork. Interestingly enough my passenger side headlight is slightly mis-aligned compared to my drivers side... if I hadn't had the truck from 0kms I'd say it had been in an accident (it hasn't - unless the dealership crashed it before I took delivery). Also - there's no sign of rusting on the hood where the metal is exposed?

Any ideas? I'm planning on taking it to the dealership sometime this week to see what they say - I'm pretty sure I know what their answer will be but..

I have 2 spots where the paint was rubbed off on each side of my hoods underside
the hood is rubbing on the dust cover that is covering the space between to radiator & the grille
I have about 75,000 miles on it

Its an aluminum hood, it wont rust, just get a can of touch up and give it a coat or 2 and it will be nice. And at 120, I don't think anyone gonna notice it

It's an aluminium hood eh? Killer - rust was my main concern. I don't fancy replacing the hood in a couple of years once it's all rusted out ha.

Thanks for the replies! Good to know I am not the only one that is experiencing this too. I'll see if I can squeeze the dealer for some touch up paint etc. They gotta hate me there by now... so far I've had them repaint the back of the cab (it came with a factory fitted scratch and bubbling). Still - it's a brand new vehicle and it should be 100% from day 1 right? I actually think they got some revenge on me when I went in for an oil change... $190 for Mobil 1 + tire rotation
