Default How do I wire a brake controller in a 08 with only a 4pin harness?

I bought an aftermarket 7pin harness for the rear. the factory 4pin plugs into it and then I had a ground and backup light wire to splice. I have left a white and black 12 gauge 14 foot wire that I assume should go to the battery and my new Tekonsha brake controller should go to the factory blue connector under the dash. Is this correct or do i have it wrong? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks
Don

I'm a bit confused on the ground wire since the 4 pole flat already has a ground in it. I suspect the long wire is indeed for the brake controller output but can't be sure. Can you post the make and model of plug you purchased?

It's a Tow Ready part # 118799, and where the 2 strand 14foot wire in the instructions says it should be a blue and a balck wire, I have a white and a black wire
