Personally, I think you are crazy to even consider it.

Possible damage to the truck
Possible ticket if they see you and weigh it
Possible injury to others in an accident

Too much at risk for me to even consider it...that weight is more than a 2500 diesel man trans is rated for, and AT the max for a 3500 diesel man trans,

That weight is 3500 diesel territory dude. I use to haul a 4500 lb flat bed with a 6000 lb truck on it, but that was with a 3500 dually 12v ctd 5 spd.

By the time you add up your truck + the boat, you will be in the 20k range..........

Sounds like time to trade for a 4500 CTD bud.

Thanks for the feedback folks. The $225 the yard charges is a pittance compared to the potential fines I just found out about. I really wanted to hook up a "man sized" load and go but also don't want to damage my truck. If I towed every day I'd have a 3/4 ton or larger unit but for twice a year it just doesn't make sense financially. It sure is good to know that my Ram could do it.

Oh $225? Good decision. The potential is there for a lot more expense lol.

I wouldn’t do it, but then I don’t gamble (other than meeting semi’s on the highway doing 55), that said; I’d say the RAM can pull the load and safety shouldn’t be compromised too much, but you’re pulling a boat? Getting it to the ramp and into the water is one thing; back up the ramp may be a completely different story.
