Was on my way to the dealership to take it in and the light went off.
I figured must not have been anything terrible then. Going to wait and see if it comes back on in the next few days or maybe it was just something messing up idk

Could have been the cap then. Definitely make sure it clicks 3 times when tightening. Of course coming from a S-10, I am sure you a very familiar with this (GM vehicles are the worst about that check engine light and the gas cap. And it's about $89 for them to turn the light off because it won't on it's own!)

suprisingly i never once had the check engine light come on with my S10, which is why this really bugged me after 6 days of ownership

Well that is good. My dad's 97 Sonoma would do it all the time! Oh and my mother-in-law's Trailblazer did it once.

Question leak

Probbly your gas cap. Had that happen to me as well. I still have a problem with the engine light but its a result of a key code. The previous owner had remote start/alarm on it but took the module out. My mechanic said it could have been because it was a lease and not factory installed. Light comes on and goes off after a awhile. Truck occasionaly =quits at start up once and then fires up.

It was your gas cap. After starting the truck a couple of times and the cap being tight the computer resets the light automatically. You can reset the computer to shut it off faster and then to can see if it comes back on, that way you know if it was a cap or not.

Bones: So today when i tried starting it up the truck wouldn't start right away??? I do have a remote start and alarm, but they are still installed, I believe it probably was a gas cap problem, but im not sure if anyone has insight as to wether i should be worried or not let me know..

The weather drastically dropped last night (I live in Michigan) to under 30 so i was wondering if this was the reason for the slow start up, or could it be the problem with the check engine light?????

IMHO I don't believe the check engine light and the no start condition are related. I take it you tightened the gas cap properly when the light went out this last time? Also, when your truck doesn't start, other than it being cold, what other symptoms are you getting? Is it cranking just not turning over or are you getting nothing at all out of it?
