Default Heat not getting hot..

Like the title says.. I let the truck warm up to operating temps, and the heat blows cool... When i drive it gets warm, but i have it at full blast.. It is only warm when its directed to the windshield. When I switch it to blow towards me, it is really cool.. The car warms up normally, no overheating or anything.. Any suggestions??? Its a 2002 1500 btw..

touch both hoses going to the heater under the hood, they should both be hot

if they are both hot, you have a control flap, inside the heating system that is likely broken
dodge refers to them as Blend Doors. The blend doors are used for redirecting the flow of air, hot or cold

Start with the obvious and verify the coolant level.

+1 I had that same problem with my car when my coolant was too low. it would only blow heat when I was driving, anytime I stopped it would blow cold.

Mine blows hot when i first turn it on. but within 3 -5 seconds, it cools down. Im assuming the blower is cooling the lines down and not allowing them to stay hot..

Ill be checking the coolant level, ill get a t-stat too, but i dont think its that.. the temp gauge gets to operating temps like it should when its running normal..
