Default Strut noise after bilstein install

Just installed Bilstein 5100's set at 2.1 on my 2012 1500 sport. Got everything in and torqued, but I'm getting a clunking noise over bumps. I put the stock shock shaft protector back on and noticed a few didn't. Not sure if that could be it. The only nut I didn't torqued was the top nut for the shock shaft, but I ran it on with an impact and made sure it was tight. I re-checked all the torque specs when it was on the ground. I haven't gotten it aligned yet because I wanted things to settle first. Any ideas before I rip it all apart again?

I just did mine a couple weeks ago. What do you mean by the stock shaft protector...are you talking about the plastic "boot"? or something else. I put mine back on too.

Are you 100% sure you got that strut shaft nut tightened all the way down? I know the shaft started spinning on mine and I had to use an allen wrench to hold the shaft still while I tightened the nut with a socket.

I haven't had any funny noises but got mine aligned within a day of completing it.

Hope you can figure it out without tearing it all apart!

Yes, I was talking about the plastic boot, and how in the heck do you get an Allen on the shock shaft with a socket over it?

Minor brain fart, just used a socket and a vice grip. Definitely weren't all the way snug. Hope that fixed my clunk.

Yeah, it took me a little while to figure it out. I put a smaller allen wrench into the hole in the side of the socket and wrenched it that way. Hope your clunk is gone now!
