Default '03 Ram rear turn indicator problem

I have an '03 Ram 1500 5.7. In the last year I have replaced my left brake light bulb 3 times - the most recent was about 2 weeks ago. Shortly after that, my left rear turn signal bulb went out. I replaced the bulb, but no go. I don't think I'm getting power to the wiring harness. Does anyone have a direction for me to go with this? All other lights work fine, and I do have a dashboard indicator that there is a light out. I do not have an owners manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-

You can download the 2004 owners manual for free here - http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/

It is almost exactly the same so should be a big help with general operation stuff.

A common failure for your truck is the FCM (Front Control Module) or it's connector to the IPM. It is not an expensive module, but it sounds to me like yours is just a poor connection. The FCM is connected to the side of IPM (Integrated Power Module) aka fuse box. Being that your truck is a 2003, cycling the connectors on the IPM would be a great preventative maintenance thing.

NOTE - As this is the heart of the electrical system in your truck, it is not the place to play for a complete novice to the modern electrical systems. If you damage it, a new one costs nearly $1000. If you disconnect the battery and ensure the leads aren't going to accidentally touch anything, your risk is low, but does exist.

I believe you are dealing with a poor connection in the wiring harness between the FCM and IPM, or failing that, the FCM is defective. Cycling the connections is cheap, the FCM should cost about $125.00

Hope this helps.

Nah, more common failure for 2003's is the rear light circuit boards that are attached to the taillights. Those will drive you bonkers chasing gremlins. About $20 or so to replace.
