how many guys are actually running the 6.4 cam? 1 or 2?

For the labor and tuning involved, I'd hold out and wait for a good aftermarket cam. If it were a DIY install, I could see how the low price would be attractive.

It is a DIY install if you have the right tools. I have helped on two installs....not as bad as you would think...but it is bad if you get it one tooth off! There is an 11 running a 6.4 cam with a 300 dollar spring kit with no tuning just to show it is possible. No codes on the 6.4 cam.

I am going to do the same thing here in a month or so, and also swap to a ported 6.1 manifold. Then comes the nitrous plate

My buddy did the 6.4 cam and PWR heads on his 09 Chally 5.7 and it picked up a ton! The heads are a big part of it, but the cam is almost .100 more lift than the stocker!
I just don't see the point in spending 800 bucks on a cam when a 60 dollar stocker has pretty close to the same specs! I'm piling up all the stuff I need for my truck, and as soon as it is completed and tuned...it will be here!

The 6.4 cam is in the .56x range compared to the .61x range of Comp. BUT...the 6.4 cam is good without the phase limiter that comp makes!

^^For the lope man!! ha.

Points well taken. I like the fact that the 6.4 cam is a factory part (I've seen aftermarket cams die a quick death). Another benefit to the 6.4 cam is that it should pass emissions testings without any hassle. What are your impressions on HHP advertising that the cam phaser limiter alone could add 20-30 hp? I'd guess that the factory cam phaser isn't solely in place to add power -- it probably has some emissions-minded function as well.

I don't see how limiting the VCT system could add horsepower....VCT is used to add low end and high end power by advancing and retarding cam timing.

unless it's like I'm saying. They're pulling more than necessary on top to limit cylinder pressure and NOx.
