My taillights were just painted with automotive paint by another member on another site. Everyone highly recommended against using night shades. Mine look awesome! Completely changed the look of the truck. I wasn't too worried about ruining mine, I found an extra set on Craigslist for $10.

i used my rc tint paint and then clear. the first time i didn't use clear afterward and it faded in like 3 months. i liked the look so i painted them again and this time i used clear afterward. i guess i shoulda sanded it but i didn't and it still worked out fine. spent like $4 for the small can of model tint, $2-$3 for the clear. I'm satisfied. i'll prob post a pic tonight to show everyone

Wow, not bad... not bad at all... back in the day, we use to dip the lens in water about 160 degrees with Ritz dye in it and let it slowly soak up the dye... like your way better..

Cool, I like the candy paint idea, and I don't mean to sound like a fun spoiler because I think these types of mod's look great. But as a vehicle inspector (Canada) you have to be careful. Of course if I had to do an inspection I would have no choice but to make you get new lights, but unofficially I reckon this is crap, as long as the lights still do their job. This means of course you may not be able to go as dark as you would like, but be real and remember that they are there for a reason. My wife is in insurance and has seen a couple of claims knocked back because of these types of lights where people have run into a vehicle and have claimed they didn't see the turn signal of the vehicle moving into their lane, the other person might be in the wrong, but the modified lights will make you liable.
