Default 2006 1500 Ram 5.9 Hemi SLT Blown Engine

New to forum. Need some advice/guidance. I have a 06 1500 Ram with 5.9 Hemi that blew engine. Very upsetting because I was on top of maintenance. Up to what year engine can I put in also can it be from a Charger, Durango, etc.

5.7 hemi. Any engine 03-08 will work, but anything from a Ram prior to 2006 (or a 2500/3500) will require you to transfer all the MDS stuff (solenoids, cam, lifters).

Pretty much means that you should stick to 06-08. Unless you feel like ripping the whole top end off and replacing head gaskets etc.

I would recommend sticking with the truck motors though. I think the car motors have slightly different mounting brackets, so you would have more to transfer.

Why would you think that? MDS has nothing to do with the cylinder heads.

Can you pull the lifters all the way out without pulling the heads?

I didn't think you could pull the lifters without lifting the heads.

But either way. Still more work to do that than to just stick with 06 to 08. With having to open it up, loosen all the rockers, pull the pushrods, pull the lifters, remove the cam, replace the cam, and hope that the old parts both work and are undamaged. Plus 06 to 08 there's more lower mileage motors. Now, I would say if you intended on beefing up your engine then it doesn't matter anyway. Get yourself any 5.7 hemi, and go to town. But this guy sounds more like he wants a relatively drop-in ready motor.
