Default Noise with back windows down

I have a new 2012 dodge ram crew cab and it shakes and makes a loud noise when driving over 50 mph with back windows half way down and front windows up.

What you are experiencing is 'Wind Buffeting'. There is more information on this in your owners manual on pages 37 and 202. If you do not have the owners manual, you can download it for free from - http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/owners/manuals/

nearly all new vehicles do this for the last several years, it is because of the aerodynamics. open windows change the air flow and cause the buffeting. you can solve it by simply cracking another window or changing how far you open them.

That's why you read the owners manual. They don't tell you everything when you buy it, and they don't know everything about it.

My salesman did mention it tho, and his answer was to use the remote sliding rear window to get rid of it.

Our 2006 Chrysler Pasifica does this. Sometimes it can hurt our ears if we roll down the rear windows before the front ones.

Default Wind buffeting

I know what you guys are talking about. I haul my dog around in the back of my QC and I usually lower the rear windows so he can drool down both sides of the truck at his leisure. The first time I did this i got the wind buffeting and the dog started to growl pretty seriously and started to bark (he nevers barks) and I thought he was going to go "Cujo" on me. My 2010 F150 raptor SC (almost the same as QuadCab) did the same thing but not near as bad at the RAM. I know it is downright uncomfortable to me so i can't image how the dog felt. Being winter in SD, I just keep the windows up let him drool on and lick the insides of the rear windows. Just means i have a reason to clean the inside of the truck more often.
