Default Painting Headlight housing Q's

I have seen some of the members in here "baking" the headlights and painting the interior chrome housing and I want to do this but had a couple Q's

1. my primary concern is resealing the housing. Is this hard ? and those of you that did this did you get moisture in the assembly.

2. Brightness - I drive home at night everyday in the winter will this affect the brightness of the light reflected ? I do plan to switch to Sylvania Ultravision bulbs or even the ZXE <-- (input is appreciated on that also)

Lastly I am thinking about the VHT spray to tint my rear lights (brakes and 3rd) any experience with that ? I will be adding a led light bar below the tailgate..

To reseal it, remove all of the old stuff that was in there before, you'll have to heat it up a couple times to get it all off, then use butyl tape i believe to seal it all up, i didn't get moisture when i did my first set so you should be fine if you just are careful

if your painting your headlights though, don't paint the entire thing or else it will destroy your light output, only paint the outer bezel like i did here:

I used silicone and RTV on that set and it sealed up, but it was a little more difficult, butyl tape is neater and easier silicone looked bad on the outside but it works

Did you just leave the amber reflector out on the turn signal? That looks SO much better!

I did the same thing on my Subaru. I was able to just re-bake them to re-seal them, nothing else was added. They held fine.
If you do plan on painting them, take the above advice and don't paint the reflectors. Unless you retrofit projectors in them, you will never seen at night again with the reflectors painted.
If you want to paint the turn signal portion on the other hand, you can still make them just as bright (if not brighter) with LEDs.

They make chrome bulbs that still light up amber, but they are fairly dim. If you get LEDs that would also clear it so there won't be any amber at all, but they're not cheap and you need resistors.

With projectors, but reflectors won't work if they're painted, if that's what you're referring to.
The retrofit looks great though, I really want one for my sled, but the car or truck should come first haha.

Yeah hes right, you need to have projectors to paint it all for sure.

Bought them from retroshop dot us. he runs a good site and helped me out with all my questions
