Default New to lifting!

So next year I was planing on getting a 2013 1500 when the incentives for new ones are out! And I have really been interested in putting a 4 inch lift on it but I have never gotten into this type of modding. So I wanted to start looking into this stuff ahead of time so when I get a brand spanking new ride next year, I will have a good idea already.

My question would be what are some good brands for a 4 inch lift? Not to mention what would usually be a normal or fair labor cost for this kind of thing?

rcx, and BDS are the only way to go for a 4" however you can get a 6" almost 1000$ cheaper, for this i would recommend pro-comp or RCX

Thanks for the advice, though I have to say I like the 4 inch lift alot. Not too much not too little look, pretty much like rayne truck here http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=108707&page=4

In fact just like his I would say that's just like what I would be going for next year.

Do dealers usually overprice for lifts also? A local dealer does them and will offer a lifetime warranty on it.

The dealer will try to sell you the Mopar lift most likely. I dont know what your dealer wants but my dealer wanted $3500... just for the lift! Which is rediculous considering that its just a Superlift kit, which I bought from another shop in Vancouver for $2200. You can also get less expensive lifts than that such as RCX, I think they run around $1300 in Canada.

Consider shop rates for install too. My dealer charges like $120/hour and quoted me 15 hours for an install. The shop I got it installed at is experienced 4x4 shop and charges $85/hour.

I checked out the rough country they seem to go for around 1200 here. I heard on the forums rough country is pretty good though. I do have a co worker that could install this lift he used to do this stuff in the past and is pretty good. Figured a 450 or so tip is about up to par.

the dealers always over charge for everything!! what they sell you for 3k installed i can get you 1-4" taller and installed for the same money if not less and lifts is what i do i dont sell cars so i would never intentionally steer you wrong
