thanks for that info. Between the OPs link to help the DIYers and your info on the dealer install, anyone can have a power tailgate. Even though it should have came this way in the first place.

If you are scared of wiring then it could be a little intimidating, digging in to the TPIM could be a bit overwhelming if you are not comfortable with wiring.

The general install is not to bad, the one tool you need that EVERYONE may not have is a rivet gun.

Otherwise the instructions for the tailgate lock portion are good, and then it is just running wiring up to the front following the main wiring harness and zip tying as you go. I did use a commerical wire fish for getting the wiring up the wheel well chase, but if you didn't have one sure you could improvise.

This may be a stupid question, but can this still be installed if I have the spray-in bedliner already. I would definitely be interested in this.

Yes, I have a factory spray in liner, the liner doesn't effect the the removal of the tailgate access panel.

This is definately one of the "options" that should be available. Power Fold Mirrors on the 1500, and a mute button for the stereo are also much missed options from my Avalanche.

Just finished installing mine. This make life so much easier when loading the bed. No more keys needed and the scratches that they inflict.

Thanks for posting the tips and tricks. They came very helpful to be sure.

To anyone attempting this, save yourself the money and DIY. It is really a simple process be patient and prepare to get dirty.

Got mine last Aprl from Bonneville Parts (www.bonnevilleparts.com) last April for $102.50 + shipping, but see today the price is $107.50. They are in New Hampshire. Part # 82211668AB. Comes with full instructions. Before I installed mine, I had read a post on how one guy removed the pins from the connector in the TIPM and slid the heat shrink over the wire and put the pin back into the connector. I did this and it made a near factory job. Don't ruin your TIPM as they are rather expensive. Good luck.
