x1000 UNBROKEN! Something I had to learn in my early days as a Mustang owner.

I have brought this up on another thread...no one seems to want to address the unusually low numbers from a supposed 390 hp truck. Either Dodge is fulla crap with its rating or proper dyno technique is not being used.

I'm going with 390 being an exaggerated number to start with.

I guess crank horsepower is a term not heard much. I don't doubt the motor itself could have 390 but it sure doesn't get that much to the ground after everything is lost to run the truck.

I do have a question though. If the ram trucks are so hard to dyno are they also hard to custom dyno tune? Like Theblackhemi got his email tuned he could be even better with a custom dyno tune.

My 2007 charger r/t had 350 crank hp and dynoed 285 rwhp. Big loss in the drive train for the ram or exagerated numbers. The ram Should be over 300 rwhp stock.

datalogging can be used in place of dyno runs in many cases.

Thats a good question, i wonder if it would be hard to custom dyno tune. I was planning to have my truck dyno tuned by Flaco once i put headers and a throttle body on but after seeing TheBlackHemi's thread with HemiFever's tuning im probably just going to go his route with the mail order tune.

Come on guys are you really debating if dodge is lying about the 390 hp. Dodge knows if someone takes a brand new hemi out of a truck and put it on a engine dyno and not getting numbers not close to there advertised hp rating, they could get sued buy everyone that bought one.

Plus if I remember in 2009 2010 there was somebody that did take a motor out of a truck because it was such a high number compared to the 3rd gen hemis. And they got the rated hp. Don't remember who but it has been done

That is some of the worse drivetrain loss I have ever seen. I do have to doubt the claims of 395hp even at the crank seeing dyno numbers that low. thanks to this I now understand why my 395hp hemi feels so.dam slow. I though it was just me. maybe I will try and take my truck and put it on the dyno when we tune my car And see what #'s it actually puts down since it is stock aside from a weld on magnaflow.
