Default Things to look for

I had my truck stolen a few weeks back and will be taking the insurance buyout rather than taking my old truck (they found it a day after the insurance made their offer). I've been looking at a 2010 sport, crew cab w/ the ram boxes and just about every option under the sun like heated seats, back up cam, nav etc etc. The price is right but I'm curious as to what I should be looking out for when I go to take a look at it, my uncle has a 2010 and has had issues with a day time running light being out, as well as having to have the tie rod boots replaced at 58k under warranty but I was hoping you guys had some input. The truck has extended warranty up to 120k so I've got probably the better part of 1.5 years+ left of driving to get things taken care of but a heads up would be great. This truck is my dream truck and I am a little worried about not taking the time to make sure everything checks out (doesn't hurt that its over an hour out of the city and with having to rent a vehicle I'm trying to minimize the back and forth). Thanks for the input!

Well tie rod/suspension stuff doesn't really surprise me.... They put the cheap sealed stuff, so we can't grease them up.

With the warrantee I wouldn't be too worried. If I were worried then I'd pay a mechanic to look it over and drive it.

Get it, you will have the piece of mind with the warranty. Besides it comes with all the bells and whistles you didn't have on the other one. I wouldn't give it a second thought, just my opinion...........

I would look at the paint closely. Mine was brand new and has paint flaws. I have a gold tint to my hood due to not enough black being sprayed to cover the primer.

Never mind... I see its used lol.

The 10's also had a recall for certain heater control units as well as the tie rods. Get the Vin and go to Dodge's web site under owner section and put Vin in to see if there are any recalls or have dealer look it up.

Thanks guys, I should be looking at it tomorrow and in my mind its almost a done deal, just doing my due diligence I suppose. Had the dealer run the VIN and nothing came up, he's got all the service records with it. Just frustrating with the short week and I'm still waiting on the money from the insurance company to show up and I'm stupid excited to A) have a vehicle period and B) Its my dream truck! haha. Anyone have any idea how all the 'extras' hold up over time? Just been reading about lots of back up camera fogginess from moisture and curious about the heated seat elements and such? Had asked about getting the warranty extended to 180-200k km and the dealership was looking for approx 3500 (still waiting to hear back on official deal) but I wasn't able to find any significant info for the Canadian version and it sounds as though all warranties expire at the 5 year mark regardless which would make it a waste of cash.

grab it and enjoy your dream truck. i know we here about some problem trucks, but i believe there are more problem free trucks than there are problem trucks.

This one actually has the alarm as an add in package, Ive never been a huge believer in them as most people just ignore them as they go off often enough for no reason. The police had actually recommended the club, had heard differing things on those, mostly to the tune that they don't work. When I looked at my truck when I went to get my possessions out of it, it seemed like it was in decent condition, my stereo was still in there, they left the $60 mag flashlight, 12v air compressor, no attempts to get into the tool box etc etc.
