As for the sound I installed a flowmaster super 44 on mine by just chopping the stock muffler out and welding the flowmaster in place with an extension pipe from an auto parts store (good thing I did modify the exhaust because apparently one of the owners down the line had modified the exhaust and reinstalled the stock pipe back in place doing a very bad job). Now the truck sounds awesome and gets better gas milage while sounding much better. I put a K&N air filter in it as well and that helped a little bit as well. I just haven't figured out what tuner would be good for the 4.7 'cause everything that I have been finding has been for the Hemi.

I just picked up an 03 ram 1500slt quad 4x4, it had a dynomax ultrflo ss 17519, I added a K&N cai, changed the plugs to nkg v power copper plugs, after foirst week without new plgs and cai, averaged 13 mpg combined, second week after installing new plugs and cai, averaged 15 combined., seems like the plugs and cai helped. I recently sealed the top and sides of the K&n cai heatshield with foild faced metal tap, my truck does not have hood liner, so there was a space above heat shiled that asket did not fill, so I wrapped three layers of reflective foil around top of cai. and 1 layer around egine side of each shield... Only drove it this weekend, but avg mpg is down to 13 again. might be function of driving though shore traffic to beach on really hot day, not real highway run to speak of, today I goback to my normail rn, will se what the mod to cai does. I used the heavy foil tape, because I can shape it, now its formed to the shape of the hood in a couple spots, I checked temp above throttle body, 130 at fully warmed up idle, about 10 degrees cooler at end of cai filter. have to see how this works on commute. Just changed oil to Mobil 1 synthetic with bosch oil filter.

update, closing the top of the K&N off was a mistake, killed performance, I guess it gets allot of free air from the top of the open heat shield. anyway, cut foil tape off, and the truck responded....
