Default Shock question for lifted truck

Hey guys. Just bought my first Ram and am loving it. It has a lift kit on it but it rides really rough. I'm assuming that the PO never put taller shocks on it because it rides really rough and i can feel the shocks bottom out. My question is that the PO said it had a 3" lift and I'm wanting to put some new Rancho shocks on it but when i try to look up the right shock it only shows one for stock, one for 2.5" lift and one for 4" lift. So I'm needing to know what shock part # to get. Thanks in advance.

I would say measure your kit and make sure it's actually 3" and don't just take the guys word for it.....

is it 3" suspension or a 3" body lift? that will make a difference in shock length

So on the front of your truck, your control arms bolt into your frame. If you have a suspension lift, you should see a large piece called your crossmember (it generally has the brand name on it) that has taken where your control arms normally bolt in and moved them down 2.5, 3, 4, 6 inches etc... The easiest way to get a good idea of the size of your lift, if measure from where your lower control arm used to bolt in, to where it bolts in now on your crossmember.
