Default Decided to cut springs...

We'll, after reading through quite a few posts I think I am going to take the plunge. 1.5 coils out of the rear to level. Has anyone that has done this had any issues? Factory shocks will work? had to change the bumpstops? springs wanting to come out of the perches? Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

FWIW: it's a 2012 1500 2wd crew

You should probably start with half a coil, then a full coil, etc. You can always cut more, but can't add back. I took 1.5 coils off my quad and it dropped an inch. I also used RT springs, though. Depending on the springs in yours, I wouldn't cut them, although many do. That's up to you. You will likely only achieve 1" drop. If you cut more than the ~1.5 coils the springs start getting too short and could fall out. Some are riding around like this, VERY dangerous IMO. What happens if you hit a big bump, rail road track, etc and your spring comes out of place?

would not recommand doing it, maybe buying lower springs just for the rears if this is the way you whant to go,

if you cut yours, depending on how much you take off, the ride quality will go also

With the cut RT springs I put on my quad, ride is good, maybe even better than stock. I got 1" drop, and was next to free(think I paid like $20 for the springs) and it's close to level. I am happy with it.

The cheapest springs I could find are $180 for a 2" drop. There have been quite a few people cut theirs without any negative effects. Trying to get all the facts before i do this. Thanks for all the replies!

I did my dads, 2 coils rear was 4", full coil front was 2". I chopped rear stops in half and removed fronts completely. Zero issues after 5k miles

I have a crew cab and cut 1.5 coils on mine. No issues whats so ever. You would have to be hauling ass over a dip/bump to lift the rear of the truck high enough for the springs to come out. As for the ride quality, rides no different than stock, and wouldn't even notice a difference.
