Default What in-dash would you recommend?

So I am looking at getting a in-dash headunit for my truck, and then will eventually do speakers/subs. I was looking at a 7" screen and would love for it to be iphone/ipod capable. If it has navi and bluetooth thats a plus but not a huge deal.

What would you guys recommend? Not looking at spending over $1,000, if it is less thats great! But I do not want something crappy.

Here is one that's cheap and not bad at all. We have it in the STi.

I would stay with kenwood or alpine. If it was my truck I would go with alpine.

Pioneer AppRadio 2 works great for me. I had a $1500 dvd/nav unit in there until someone decided to break in and steal it. Decided to go with something cheaper just incase someone got that bright idea again. Kinda sucks not being able to listen to old cds anymore, but that's what smartphones are for!

I'd stick with Pioneer, Kenwood or Alpine units.

In your price range with NAV, iPod integration, 7" screen:

If you have a smart phone, a Garmin NUVI LMT model, or TOM-TOM, use it for Navigation
You will want Bluetooth, many states will require Hands Free Calling

To me this seems to be a very good radio, easily upgradable

Thanks everyone! I was talking to a guy on crutchfield chat and he suggested 3 units. The first one was a Kenwood Excelon DNX6990HD for $899.99, this has everything; iphone/ipod capable, GPS, Pandora, bluetooth, etc. Second one he recommended was a Pioneer AVH-P8400BH that has everything but Navi for $599.99. Last he said a Pioneer AVH-P1400 DVD which has no bluetooth or Navi for $249.99.

GTyankee, I do have a iphone so I could use the GPS on that but always thought a Navi headunit would be cool so I didn't have to use my data on phone, but at the sametime of me thinking about the Navi, I hardly EVER need a navigation, and if for some reason I have no idea where I am going, I usually print directions anyway or can use my phone, or even since I rarely use it I can just buy a Navi unit seperate and only use on those big trips, then remove from truck when not needed.

Bluetooth I am starting to think I do not need as well because I usually do not talk on the phone when driving, and if for some reason I have to I always have it on speaker phone and sitting on my lap, plus I have a bluetooth headset for the phone.

So I guess all I am really looking for in a in-dash unit is for it to be able to connect my iphone and ipod to it if need be for music, and even a usb drive would be cool, and possibly be able to play a DVD in it. I want it though to be a good unit and not crappy. This will be my first purchase before I do speakers/amps/ and subs so I want it to be capable to have good quality for a system and have all controls I need for the system.

With that all in mind, do you guys recommend the same units?

Pioneer Avic 940BT Have it installed in my 2010. Has Sat, Nav, BT, iPhone easily connects for iTunes , Pandora, hand free calling etc. Plays DVD's. I also have Sirius XM. I had the bypass switch put in so I can play a movie or adjust Nav while driving (so you don't have to be in park) also works with my steering wheel controls. I also have a backup camera installed all was about 1100 installed think.
Have had it fro about 2 months and love it!

Are there any aftermarket Receivers that will fir the opening completely? I'm not liking the idea of the "kit" look on my new truck. There's got to be options somewhere. I saw a sony on here but cant find the thread now. Sorry to threadjack!!

With the AVH-8400 and the lesser 4400 model you can display apps run from your phone onto the receiver's screen, this includes certain navigation apps. I use MotionX GPS with mine and it works fine. There is an optional Iphone cable that allows video playback from phone to receiver that is needed.
