Default Idler pulley replacement 1500 V8

1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 single cab. I am replacing a idler pulley, was told by Firestone it was probably having a bearing go out or something and that's why I am having a loud noise coming from it. I am looking to replace it myself and was wondering how to get the belt off and also where and how to remove the idler pulley to put the new one on? Thanks in advance.

The belt tension device, it is attached to the passenger side cylinder head under the alternator. You want to put a socket on the bolt that is in the center of the pulley of the belt tension device and turn the pulley bolt clockwise, the pulley will move to the right releasing tension on the belt. Then you can remove the idler pulley, install new one torque to 30 ft-lbs.

Thanks for your reply, I keep forgetting about this website so I never get on, It actually basically quit for the most part making a noise, so I put off replacing it, but that information will help soo much when I need to get it off to replace the belt. Thanks again! : )
