I had to push the bottom of the spring off the perch with very little force, no prying with any tools just a slight push with the palm of my hand.
That seems correct. One of mine came out by hand, the other I could have gotten by hand but I made it easier by prying it out with leverage. The springs are different side to side IIRC one is slightly longer(I think driver side) to account for the driver and fuel tank. So it is slightly tighter in there.
Point is that from the factory no springs will fall out on their own.
