Correct me if im wrong but according to reports ive read over the years on pickuptrucks.com (GREAT site if you dont already check it out for truck industry news and their shootouts are epic) but a few years ago Furd Gm and Chrysler all had small diesels ready for the half tons (chryslers was def a cummins a v6 I believe) but than the new diesel emission standards came out and they all had to trash them b/c they could only produce these trucks for a year or two than have to totally revamp to meet the new standards and now the diesel allpar is reporting in the Ram1500 is a VM bc its within fiat group unlike cummins. Honestly if Ram had a cummins in a half tonit would def be my next truck when I finish payments on my 12 but if its a VM ill just wait for the 12 to be falling apart of a small jeep pickup if its done right just my .02

I was waiting on this, but ended up buying a 2012 Hemi. I can't wait to see how these do. I think their is definitely a market for these. If this can achieve the MPG of the Pentastar or better, but perform nearly as well as the Hemi while pulling a trailer I think Dodge has a real winner on their hands. A ton of HD diesel owners don't really need a HD, but get it because they want a diesel.

Exactly I cant tell you how many guys I know who dont need 2500s for their work but get one just b/c they love the diesel. Chrysler would get alotta sales from these guys if they had a 1500 diesel hopefully it would bring over some Ford and Gm guys if chrysler is first to the marked w/ a half ton diesel

*affordable* diesel. Sucks that to get a diesel you have to spend so much more up front. That's the only reason everyone I know doesn't get one. Many friends and myself want diesel but it's just not worth it for our use. Especially lately with the new regulations.

I can't tell you how many travel trailers and 1/2 ton trucks I've seen wadded up in a pile at the bottom of hills because the trailer was too big for the tow vehicle. The general populace is kinda stupid when it comes to towing stuff...I just see them thinking they have "diesel power" now and they can tow anything they want....
Sooo right about that!
